Further

I haven't produced much lately, but it feels like some things are about to complete. What is developing,  seems to be quasi-sonata-allegro ideas that sort of resemble passacaglias. Upon listening to the work of the last three years, it seems that a problem has emerged.

This is in the form of an urge to build melodies within ther repeating figures. The lay-person's ear is most likely going to be addled by the repetition, despite the endemic, frenzied poly-rhythms designed to hold the attention vertically – rather than horizontally. I also have to preserve some semblance of voice-leading, without falling into predictable and hackneyed chord-changes (if that term truly applies).

Editing is becoming much easier with this particular DAW. I can record the figures in the form of loops and then fairly easily, join them together with the swipe of a trackpad. An unexpected benefit of this, is that I must pay attention the “joints” between each modulation. Could there be opportunities for melodic development within these "seams?'

Meanwhile, volume-swell sheets of textural and chordal ideas keep manifesting. But still, the above issues present themselves. Also, adjustments need to be negotiated regarding harmonic and aural distinction of intervals within each collection of pitches.
